John Carter's book, "God, Get
Me Out Of This One!" is John's
story of addiction and his
journey to recovery.
This book is not a book for
closed or weak minds. It is not
for those people who are not
open to truth and change.
However, if you are ready for

dusty on your shelf. John's
story has touched countless
lives. His book has ignited a
hunger and unquenchable thirst
for change.

John Carter's book brings real issues to the
surface. For some, his book brings tears;
for some, laughter; for some, hope.
Each person who reads John's story and
follows the principals stated in his book walks
away with something different.
There has been a few that could not finished
reading John's book, for it brought to them
anger. This is a part of the process of
healing. For this book deal with issues that
most all of us would rather not talk about.
This living story about addiction and recovery
carries these issues into the light.
The one common factor that has rang true
with each person that has read his book is
that his story touches hearts that causes
change. yes, this story helps us all look deep
within ourselves. There we see the reflection

JOHN CARTER has been a substance
abuse counselor for the past 30 years.
He started working at Terros, Inc.
through the CETA program in November
of 1974.
John worked in the Crisis Unit, working
on drug overdoses and other drug
related problems. He also worked on the
suicide hot-line. He went to school and
excelled. In February of 1976, he was
asked to come to work for St. Lukes
Hospital, where he worked as a
counselor's Aide until he became
certified through the Arizona Board of
Certified Alcohol Counselors (ABCAC) in
1977.
Since that time John has worked as an administrator in several programs in
Arizona. In addition, he has started several programs working with DUI
offenders, Probation and Parole. John is an educator and lecturer teaching
about dysfunctional family systems, substance abuse, DUI education and
substance abuse treatment. John Carter is a Licensed Independent
Substance Abuse Counselor in the state of Arizona where he now resides.
Most of us, has/will know someone in our lives who is need of recovery.
